Happy (to Have) Holidays. A Chart
[Opinion] Thanksgiving notwithstanding, the US is slightly below average when it comes to public holidays
Good Morning from Taipei,
Thanksgiving is a very American holiday, for obvious reasons, and my felicitations to those who celebrate it. This got me thinking about all the other unique holidays across the globe, and who gets the most. Dragon Boat Festival is my personal fave because it falls in Summer.
Public holidays, as distinct from annual leave entitlements, do vary across the globe. But not as much as I’d imagined. Nepal is at the top with 39 days per year, while the UK and Mexico are less fortunate at 9 days, according to data collated by World Population Review. Although the US, at 11 days, is on the low side most nations cluster around the benchmark of 14 days per year.
I found this interesting, so I thought I’d share.
